The breadth of your life, as a diagram

Cosmic Board

"Am I built to move widely, or to plant myself in one place?" — career changes, independence, relocation, relationships. At every fork in the road, this question returns. FATE DECODER answers it with the Cosmic Board: a single diagram that places the three pillars of your chart on a circle and shows, as an actual area, the natural range and direction of action you carry.

Your chart takes a shape on the circle

The Cosmic Board arranges the 60 stem-branch numbers used in Yin-Yang Five Elements analysis around a circle, like the hours on a clock, and plots your Year, Month, and Day pillars as three points. Connecting the three points usually forms a triangle.

That triangle is your "range of action." How you choose work, how you build relationships, where you tend to settle — the natural breadth of your activity, drawn from your chart, appears in front of you as an area.

Some people have a large triangle, others a long thin one, some a straight line, and rarely all three points collapse into a single dot. Each carries its own meaning; none is better or worse. Knowing your own shape is the first step into the Cosmic Board.

Area tells the story — are you one who spreads, or one who deepens?

People with a large area of action tend to move across multiple industries, connect naturally with diverse types of people, and find their stride by changing environment — through career shifts, founding companies, moving abroad.

People with a small area tend to dig deeply into a single specialty and become a powerful presence there. Craftsman-like, researcher-like — a small range is not a disadvantage but the foundation of focus.

Which kind are you? When intuitive self-recognition meets the shape on the Cosmic Board, there is often a quiet click: "so that is why this way of living settles me."

Triangle, line, point — the shape mirrors a life style

The triangle is the most common shape. Both the area and the way the triangle is skewed carry meaning. A near-equilateral triangle suggests balanced strength across many directions; a sharp-angled triangle suggests strong push in one direction.

A line appears when two of the three pillars share the same stem-branch number. Awareness and action concentrate in a single direction, with little wavering — strength of betting your life on one theme. This shape often appears in people drawn to wholehearted devotion.

A point is the very rare shape where all three pillars share the same stem-branch number. The range of action narrows to an extreme, or paradoxically expands beyond conventional bounds — a special destiny that tends to swing one way or the other.

Overlay two Cosmic Boards and compatibility becomes visible

Another use of the Cosmic Board is for compatibility. When two people's ranges of action overlap, the larger the overlap, the closer their action patterns and the easier it is to understand each other. But too close also breeds the clashes of mirrors.

Partial overlap — shared territory while still surprising each other — tends to develop most fruitfully as lovers or work partners.

No overlap at all means values and action ranges differ greatly; understanding takes more time. This is not "incompatible," but a relationship that can widen each other's territories.

FAQ

Does a small triangle mean my life will go badly?

No. A small triangle means your range is narrower, but with that comes concentration and specialisation as strengths. A large triangle means broader movement at the cost of energy being more dispersed. Neither is better; what matters is taking a strategy aligned to your shape.

Are line or point Cosmic Boards rare?

Lines are not particularly rare; points (all three pillars sharing the same stem-branch) are quite rare. Lines concentrate energy in one direction; points fit people with extreme environments. Neither is a "bad shape" — each carries its own way of being used well.

Can compatibility be judged by the Cosmic Board alone?

The Cosmic Board is a powerful entry point for compatibility, but it is not the whole answer. Combine it with Phase Relationships, Tenchusatsu, and Ten Major Stars to read the relationship in three dimensions. FATE DECODER's AI reading combines these into a single view.
